TerraPro: Below Grade Insulation

TerraPro is EPS insulation manufactured from a polystyrene resin containing graphite beads, called Neopor from BASF SE. Neopor is the "next generation" in polystyrene technology, developed by BASF chemical company, the original inventor of EPS, and world wide manufacturer of expandable polystyrene resins. AMC's New TerraPro is manufactured from Neopor and then laminated between two sheets of woven polypropylene resulting in a product that provides superior insulation values to standard EPS while providing durability and strength for insulating below grade.

TerraPro: An effective way to meet or exceed today's standards for under slab

Studies show that as much as 25% of energy loss from a structure
can be attributed to lack of insulation on below grade foundations,
crawl spaces and under slabs. In these applications TerraPro
manufactured from BASF Neopor will meet or exceed today's
exacting standards for R value and water absorption, as outlined on
the attached chart.

EPS vs XPS

TerraPro (Expanded Polystyrene) maintains its R‐Value even after long‐term exposure in northern climates. In below grade applications, extruded (XPS) foam insulation loses up to 50% of its R-Value over time.

TerraPro Facts:

  • TerraPro panels do NOT contain CFC's, HCFC's, or formaldehyde.
  • TerraPro foam does NOT contribute to the growth of mold or mildew.
  • TerraPro foam is manufactured in accordance with ASTM C578.
  • TerraPro foam is 100% recyclable.
  • TerraPro when installed with shiplap or taped joints is a vapor barrier.
  • TerraPro foam is proven to hold 98% of its R-value below grade after aging as stiplulated in the EPS Molders technical bulletin "EPS Below Grade Series 103" November 2008.
